What is WhereDoIRank.ai?
WhereDoIRank.ai is the public record of how AI models recommend brands. We measure, score, and explain where your brand appears when people ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity for a recommendation.
How are the rankings measured?
We ask each model the real questions buyers ask, like "What is the best CRM for startups?", and record which brands it names and in what order. Every question runs through the official model APIs, with web search on, under the same settings on every run. Every ranking traces back to an actual model response, scored 0 to 100 for each model.
Do you measure the AI apps people actually use?
Not yet. The index is quoted on the official model APIs, so every brand faces the same question under the same settings, with nothing personalized to a user. That is what makes the columns comparable week to week. The consumer apps are a different surface: what a person sees inside a chat app can carry memory, personalization, and live experiments on top of the same model, so its answers can differ from the API’s. Measuring that surface directly is coming to Pro.
What is GEO, or generative engine optimization?
GEO is the practice of improving how often and how favorably AI models recommend your brand. It is the AI-era counterpart to SEO: ranking first on Google does not matter if the model never names you.
Which AI models do you track?
We track the four models people use most to find products: ChatGPT from OpenAI, Claude from Anthropic, Gemini from Google, and Perplexity. We reach each one through its official API, not through its consumer app. Each model is scored separately, so you see where you stand model by model.
How often do rankings update?
Each category is re-measured on its own recurring interval, and the most-asked categories are refreshed most often. Every brand position, score, and movement reflects the most recent completed run, and every ranking page carries the date of the close it is showing.
Can brands pay to rank higher?
No. We report what the models say. Brands cannot pay to change the record. A subscription unlocks tracking, alerts, and competitor analysis, never a better ranking.
How do I claim my brand?
Create an account and search for your brand. Claiming connects your brand to its rankings so you can track movement, compare competitors, and get alerts when your position changes.
Why doesn’t my brand appear?
If a model never names your brand for a category’s questions, you do not rank there yet. That absence is itself a finding. As we add categories and questions, more brands enter the record.
